[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_single_image image=”22639″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22663″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22648″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22657″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

I’m sure you’ve heard many good things from Langkawi and its archipelago of 99 islands. Pristine beaches, incredible wildlife and rock formations, jungle with waterfalls and a variety of species. All that sounds like a unique paradise that is waiting for me. Only about one hour flight from Singapore, it was the perfect destination for a long week-end getaway. I really enjoyed my stay on this small heaven. In fact, I wasn’t against the idea of being trapped here… It was that mix of tranquility but also fun and adventure in Langkawi that I will miss once leaving!

Here are some of my favourite things I did on the island. Maybe yours soon as well?[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/1″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]1. Renting a car {or motorbike} and cruising over the island[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_single_image image=”22697″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22698″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

Luckily, it’s a very affordable option in Langkawi. I always rent a car {or motorbike} whenever we can because it’s a nice way to explore things by yourself without being dependent. That way, we learn to know and see much more places than usual.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]2. Cenang beach[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22632″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22629″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22635″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

We drove over the island and stopped at almost every beach, but we like very much Cenang beach. I can absolutely understand why it’s so popular: its clear water, calm waves and soft white sand are just amazing, What can one ask for more?

Also, if you are keen to water sports, Cenang beach is a prefect place for that! From here, you can do jet ski, hobbie cats, parasailing and other related activities. [/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]

3. Island hopping

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22641″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22644″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22643″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22638″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22640″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22642″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22639″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22637″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

Island hopping is so much fun! Either you do it with jet ski, boat or chartered catamaran, you will not be disappointed to see one of the oldest geological formation in South East Asia. It was very impressive to see all these gigantic rocks in the middle of the sea, stop by pristine beaches {with crystal clear water} housed with monkeys! My absolute highlight during this half-day trip was swimming in the clear water lake called “Pregnant Maiden”.

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]4. Langkawi Sky Cab[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22663″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22666″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”yes” img_link_target=”_blank” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22665″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22649″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

Of course I didn’t want to miss the terrific 360 degree view over the island that you can get once you take the Langkawi Sky Cab to reach the mountain. It was absolutely amazing to ride with the steepest cable car in the world. But that’s not all! I’m sure you’ll be even more impressed by the skybridge connecting to mountain tops. What an amazing design and engineering work! Chapeau!

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]5. Rice paddies[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22656″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22651″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22652″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22657″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Rice paddies after the rain:[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22673″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22672″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22671″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

I don’t know how you feel about rice paddies, but I love them and can really spending hours of contemplation. I guess the colours green just makes me happy.

The rice paddies in Bali or Sapa are incredibly beautiful, but in Langkawi, I found that the rice paddies gave a very special atmosphere, especially after the rain when the light is soft and when it’s kind of foggy. The photos above were taken on the road when we explored the island with the car.

There is also an outdoor museum located at the restaurant Seashells {first 5 pics} in Patai Cenang if you are interested in the way how rice are cultivated!

6. Spa

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22675″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

Treat yourself with a good massage at Sun Spa or Alun Alun Spa! Both places offer a calming and stimulating environments. The therapists will help you to relax with long strokes that is typical for a Malaysian massage. Depending on the locations, the treatments will be outside.

7. Design boutique

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”22686″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22687″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_single_image image=”22677″ border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

You know already that there is no trip where I won’t look for designs! Although Langkawi is a small island, there is a general interest for art and crafts and you can find many locals practicing art here. I visited some places and there is Element Mall which I can highly recommend if you’re looking for unique gifts. This design boutique houses a large collection of home décor and textile accessories with typical Batik designs. Among floral motives, I was very happy to find other minimalistic patterns as well! {See the full post here.} [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]
