Authentique home – “the tenderness of clay”

The first time I browsed over the pottery collection of Authentique home I was instantly blown away by its beauty and pureness. Established in 1995 by the sculptor and designer Doan Thanh Nghia, Authentique home is a Vietnamese based studio that reunites three workshops, each exploring different materials. There is Cam Kim for carpentry, Cam Ha for ceramics and Cam Giang for textile.

Bat Trang blue collection

Mr. Doan Thanh Nghia was trained in Bat Trang, a Northern Vietnamese village renowned for its long tradition of pottery making and craftsmanship. His designs pull inspiration from {the South East Asian} nature as well as traditional Vietnamese motives {floral scene, dragonfly} without being antique or folkloric. On the contrary, the tea-sets, cups, bowls and plates feel light, delicate and modern. And the best part of it: you can link and associate his creations to many different designs stream you might know!

Black Bronze and Tricolour collection

Cotton white and Celadon/Jade collection

There is a perfection in lines and shapes as well as the flat colour scheme that you can find in Japanese pottery. There is clearly the minimalism of the Scandinavian simplicity. And there is also the playfulness while exploring floral or dragonfly motives. All are shaped and drawn by hands!
